Single strap sandals are huge this season and these are some of my favorites.  They can bring a casual outfit up a notch or they can just complete a more formal outfit.  These are great for spring and look great paired with your best boyfriend jeans, overalls, and any short suits! (like I did here)

A day at the LACMA usually ends with some obligatory photos of and with the infamous lights. (And maybe getting tangled up in all that spaghetti like I did). During this visit I was able to check out the Stanley Kubrick exhibit which was esoteric and quite frankly, pretty astounding.  You might have heard of him from some of his more notable work such as The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and Full Metal Jacket.  It was really fascinating to see the components of each of his films from the scripts to the lenses used for filming and photography to the costume designs.

tribal jacket

I came across this perfect mixture of southwestern/tribal/moto/blazer/leather/jacket and jumped on making the purchase.  I'm a fan of mixing textiles and prints, so this leather lapel combined with tribal woven design and black sleeves, is no exception. And not to mention it is a really great quality jacket. Tribal is pretty much a timeless print, so it is easy to wear with any outfit.  I paired mine with stripes which is trending hard right now. It's also a great way to ease into mixing prints and patterns.

Still madly in love with monochrome. I'm beginning to think that monochrome was never really a trend for me.  They're the most classic colors in my opinion. For this outfit, I paired these super cute scalloped faux leather shorts with a white sweater that has faux leather arm inserts. These shorts are even more unique in that they have this cool laser cut pattern. You've also probably seen these shoes make their way around the blogosphere but I can never get tired of them. They're cute, surprisingly comfy, and they come in white!

Had a patch of cold windy weather and rain (April showers bring May flowers?) in LA late last week so I went for something a little more cozy. I especially love this speckled material for sweaters and cardigans.  The back detail has made this one in particular a fave.  These tights create the thigh high effect and I find that the added bar on it gives it a little more dimension. You can easily re-create this look by throwing a pair of actual thigh highs over your tights.

For this spring, suits have been huge. We have also been seeing a lot of patterned prints from all of the designers.  Mix those two concepts together and you get the ultimate Spring Trend piece:  Patterned Statement Suits!
 If you want to ease into this trend, go for a playful solid colored suit like the blue/mint one.  Shorts suits are another way since they give off a more casual vibe.  Patterned suits are amazing in that you can dress them up or down depending on the pattern and your accessories! They can also act as separates so you can incorporate them into other outfits (like this and this)
